Operator Seluler Sudah Hadirkan Layanan E-SIM, Telkomsel Kapan?

Denpasar, Beritasatu.com - Operator seluler di Indonesia mulai dari XL Axiata, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, hingga Smartfren telah menghadirkan layanan embedded subscriber identity module atau E-SIM, meskipun masih dalam skala yang terbatas. Tinggal Telkomsel saja yang belum mengadopsi teknologi baru tersebut.

Vice President Corporate Communications Telkomsel, Saki Hamsat Bramono menyampaikan, Telkomsel sebetulnya juga tengah bersiap meluncurkan layanan E-SIM sambil menunggu regulasi dari Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika (Kemenkominfo), sehingga pada saatnya nanti bisa diimplementasikan dengan lancar.

"Untuk E-SIM on progress, insyaallah tahun ini sambil menunggu regulasi dari Kemenkominfo," kata Saki dalam acara media update

Teknologi E-SIM sendiri dikenal lebih praktis dibandingkan SIM Card fisik. Berbeda dengan kartu SIM fisik pada umumnya, aktivasi E-SIM dilakukan dengan cara memindai barcode. E-SIM juga menyimpan nomor telepon, paket berlangganan, konfigurasi jaringan seperti halnya kartu SIM fisik.
